What is RESET Air?

Definition

RESET Air is a performance standard for indoor air quality that certifies spaces on continuous readings from accredited monitors rather than a one-off test, with results audited by a third party.

Where it is used

RESET Air has separate standards for commercial interiors and for core and shell, plus a residential pathway. Offices, schools, retail and hospitality tenants use it when they want a public, live indicator of air quality, and it often runs alongside WELL on the same project.

Parameters and versions

Per RESET, projects monitor five parameters continuously: PM2.5, TVOC, CO2, temperature and relative humidity. Readings are averaged daily over occupied hours and must stay within performance targets in operation. Version 2.0 is the published standard and v2.1 is in draft; the v2.1 draft for interiors lowers the default PM2.5 target from 35 to 25 µg/m3 and moves carbon monoxide to optional.

Questions

RESET Air: common questions

RESET Air is an indoor air certification run by RESET, a standards body that judges buildings on what sensors record during occupancy. A project installs accredited monitors, streams the data through an accredited provider, and keeps results inside its targets to stay certified. It is often compared with WELL.

Only through RESET's accredited monitor and data provider chain, and Aqueduct is not presented as a RESET accredited data provider. Aqueduct can run alongside on the same floors for occupancy overlays, exposure tracking and alerts, which help the operations team act on the readings RESET certifies.

RESET Air rests entirely on continuous sensor data for air. WELL covers many health concepts and verifies them with on-site testing, so the two are often paired: WELL for the full design and policy picture, RESET for a live, public record of air between WELL performance tests.

Placement and density follow the standard's rules for the project type, so check the current interiors or core and shell document before buying hardware. Rooms outside the certified scope can still carry ordinary air quality sensors for operations, without counting toward the RESET result.
