Electricity meters

Electricity sub-metering and power monitoring hardware

Electricity sub-meters sit below the utility meter and measure each tenant, floor, feeder or major load. Aqueduct reads pulse meters, CT clamp monitors, Modbus meters and camera reads, and shows kWh, demand and power factor on a live single line.

Placement

From the main switchboard down to the load

  • Main incomer

The total, and the reference every sub-meter reconciles to.

  • Feeders and floors

HVAC, lighting and plug feeders split out so each end use has a number.

  • Tenants and large equipment

Chillers, RTUs and tenant boards metered on their own.

Decisions

What the readings let a team decide

  • Recharge

Tenants billed on measured kWh instead of floor area.

  • Peak control

Demand tracked against the peak so loads can be staged below it.

  • Equipment checks

Low power factor or phase imbalance on a feeder flags a unit to inspect.

Questions

Common questions

Metering answers how much energy was used. Power monitoring adds how well it was delivered: power factor, phase imbalance, voltage and demand. Aqueduct shows both on the electrical twin. See aQ EnergySmart.

Yes. Billing Management in Aqueduct bills tenants from dedicated and shared meters, shows the current cycle as it accrues and flags usage outside each tenant's normal range. See tenant submetering and billing.

Split-core CT clamps open and close around a conductor, so many installs need no disconnection. The electrical contractor still sets the safe working method for each panel before fitting. See hardware partners.

Aqueduct reads pulse meters, CT clamp monitors, Modbus meters and camera reads of older meters. Each reconciles to the main incomer so unmetered load shows as a residual. See load disaggregation.
