Vision sensors, security cameras and camera meter reads

Aqueduct works with three kinds of camera. Security cameras stream video. Vision sensors analyze their own feed and send only counts and events. Camera meter readers photograph an existing meter face so it can be read in the cloud.

Placement

Where each kind of camera goes

  • Entrances and plant rooms

Security cameras where staff need to see what happened.

  • Corridors, restrooms and queues

Vision sensors that count people without sending video.

  • In front of old meters

A small reader fixed to a meter with no pulse or data output.

Decisions

What the data lets a team decide

  • Staff to demand

People counts set cleaning and staffing by actual footfall.

  • Check an alarm

Video beside a sensor alert shows whether someone needs to go.

  • Meter without replacing

An unreadable meter starts feeding baselines and bill checks.

Hardware we work with

Device agnostic, with leading manufacturers.

Questions

Common questions

No. LoRaWAN carries only the small event messages, such as people counts and line crossings. A preview image, where a model offers one, travels over IP instead, so the radio network stays free for the sensors that share it. See gateways.

No. Security footage is viewed and recorded alongside sensor alerts. Where a site needs video analytics, a third party tool is brought into the Aqueduct view rather than built into it. See integrations.

The reader photographs the dial of an old meter on a schedule. Computer vision in the cloud converts each image into a reading for Aqueduct. The meter itself is not touched or rewired. See water meters.

Footfall. Each vision sensor reports how many people passed an entrance or used a restroom, and Aqueduct turns those numbers into cleaning rounds and staffing that follow real demand rather than a timetable. See restroom monitoring.
