Asset observability

Asset observability: know every device is reporting, powered and where it should be.

Analytics are only as good as the devices behind them. Aqueduct tracks each sensor, meter and controller for connection rate, battery or capacitor voltage and last reading, placed on its site, floor and zone.

The mechanism

What is tracked per device

  • Connection reliability

The share of expected readings that arrived, per device and over time.

  • Power health

Battery voltage on battery devices, capacitor voltage on wired ones.

  • Location and history

Each device on its floor plan and zone, with its full reading history in one view.

What it produces

A replacement list, not a site walk

  • Devices needing attention

Offline, weak or low-battery devices listed with their exact location.

  • Coverage next to results

Data coverage shown beside analyses, so a report built on gaps says so.

  • Status per site

Normal or Warning for each site on the portfolio map.

Why device health matters.

55%+

of maintenance in the average US facility is reactive, against under 10% at top performers.

HVACR mechanic openings a year are projected in the US from 2025 to 2035, so technician time is scarce.

An example

From the platform: asked for a week-on-week electricity comparison, aQ Assistant warned that several days had very low data coverage, so the comparison was unreliable. The device view then shows which meter to check.

Limits

Observability shows that a device is reporting and powered. It cannot prove a sensor is calibrated: a reading that is steady but wrong needs a field check.

Health of HVAC equipment itself belongs to fault detection and predictive maintenance.

Questions

Common questions

Anything that sends telemetry: water, electricity and gas meters, air quality sensors, controllers, and vibration and acoustic sensors. Each device carries its own health record from its first reading. See hardware.

Yes. Users can edit layouts, create zones and move devices on the floor plan without a developer. A sensor moved to another room keeps its full history. See aQ Core.

A technician commissions it in aQ Atria. The app scans the device, checks it is reporting and tags it to its site, floor and zone before the job closes. See aQ Atria.

Because a savings figure built on a silent meter is wrong. Aqueduct shows data coverage beside each analysis, so a gap from a flat battery is not mistaken for a saving. See measurement and verification.
