Build it in: specify Aqueduct at design stage on new construction.
On a new building, the metering plan, controls points and data model can be right before handover. Architects and MEP engineers write Aqueduct into the specification, partners install to it, and technicians commission each device with aQ Atria.

What new buildings get wrong at handover.
Meters missing where they matter
A main meter and little else, so the first leak or high bill cannot be traced.
Points without context
Controls points named by the installer, mapped to nothing.
Commissioning that ends at handover
Faults introduced during fit-out are found by the occupants.
What to put in the specification.
| System | Specify |
|---|---|
| Water | Main meter plus sub-meters per floor and riser, cooling tower makeup, irrigation, RO and STP. |
| Electrical | Main and feeder meters for HVAC, lighting, plugs and process loads, plus solar and generator sources. |
| Air | CO2, temperature and humidity sensors per zone, sized to each sensor's coverage. |
| Controls | BACnet or Modbus access to air handlers, rooftop units, chillers and VAV boxes. |
| Connectivity | LoRaWAN gateway coverage across the building. |
Copy-ready specification paragraph
The facility intelligence platform shall ingest telemetry from all meters, sub-meters and environmental sensors in the metering schedule; model the site as sites, floors, zones and devices; maintain a live water balance and electrical energy balance; establish weather-normalized baselines; and provide equipment control over BACnet or Modbus with a logged command history. Each device shall be commissioned and tagged to its site, floor and zone before practical completion.
Why design stage is the cheapest moment.
median energy savings from commissioning new construction, against 16% for existing buildings, across 643 buildings.

Common questions
No. Aqueduct is device agnostic: the specification calls for meters and sensors that send telemetry over open protocols, and make and model are chosen per site. Contractors can price compliant devices from several manufacturers. See the hardware Aqueduct reads.
Installation partners fit meters, sensors and controllers to the specification, and each device is commissioned in aQ Atria to its site, floor and zone. The building hands over with its data model already populated. See aQ Atria.
No. Aqueduct supplies the measured water, energy and air data that LEED and WELL ask for, but your project team pursues and holds the certification. Continuous data helps with the performance periods those programs require. See LEED.
During design development, while the metering schedule and controls points list are still open. Adding sub-meters and BACnet access then costs far less than retrofitting them after fit-out. See how Aqueduct supports design and architecture firms.
