Digital twins

Digital twins built block by block to match the real installation.

An Aqueduct digital twin is a live schematic of a physical system, updated from telemetry: a water network with its balance equation, an electrical single line with its energy balance, or a rooftop unit drawn as its working parts.

The mechanism

Three kinds of twin

  • Water

Tanks with live levels, hot and cold headers, per-floor flows, and RO and STP blocks, refreshed every 60 seconds.

  • Electrical

Utility supply, solar and generator sources, the main switchboard and each feeder, colored by power factor and loading.

  • Equipment

A rooftop unit as control panel, economizer, dampers, cooling, heating and fans, each with its state.

What it adds

Why a schematic beats a dashboard

  • Balances that must close

Equations on screen, so a missing or wrong reading shows as a gap instead of hiding in a chart.

  • NO DATA shown, not guessed

A meter that is not reporting is marked on its block.

  • Work from the twin

On equipment twins, performance, maintenance, schedules and command history sit on the same screen.

Why system-level visibility matters.

32%

of global energy use comes from buildings and construction, along with 34% of CO2 emissions.

An example

Illustrative: on an electrical twin, the HVAC feeder shows high loading and a low power factor while other feeders are green. Opening the feeder shows its 24-hour demand and power triangle, which point to the rooftop units on that circuit.

Limits

A twin shows only what is metered and modeled, and blocks are added for the systems a site actually has. It is a live 2D schematic today; full 3D site models are on the roadmap.

Commands from an equipment twin run only where control is enabled, with owner approval.

Questions

Common questions

No. BIM describes the building as designed. An Aqueduct digital twin shows the installed system's live state from telemetry, with values on each block that update as meters report. See digital twin.

Aqueduct offers water twins in aQ WaterGuard, electrical twins in aQ EnergySmart and equipment twins for units such as rooftop units under Smart Controls. Each is built per site. See aQ EnergySmart.

From the site survey and commissioning records, block by block, so only installed equipment appears. A site without an STP or hot water loop is not drawn with one. See aQ Atria.

The water twin refreshes every 60 seconds from telemetry, and the electrical and equipment twins update as their meters and controllers report. A Live indicator shows the feed is current. See aQ WaterGuard.
