Restroom monitoring

Restroom monitoring sensors for running fixtures and cleaning

Restroom monitoring pairs an air sensor for odor, sound and occupancy with a compact water meter on the restroom supply. Aqueduct reads both together, and no audio or video is captured.

Catch the running toilet nobody reports, and clean when the room needs it.

Placement

Two devices in each monitored restroom

  • Air sensor on the ceiling or wall

H2S, methane, VOC, sound level and PIR occupancy.

  • Meter on the restroom supply

A 1/2 inch to 1 inch meter on the branch feeding the room.

  • Priority rooms first

High traffic restrooms in terminals, malls and hospitals.

Decisions

What the readings let a team decide

  • Send a plumber

Steady sound and flow in an empty room points to a stuck flush valve.

  • Change the rounds

Odor trends and visit counts set cleaning by use instead of the clock.

  • Close the ticket

Flow back to its normal pattern confirms the repair worked.

Questions

Common questions

No. The restroom air sensor reports decibel levels only, and there are no cameras. Occupancy comes from a PIR motion sensor, so the room is monitored without identifying anyone. See restroom monitoring use case.

Cleaning products cause short VOC peaks that fade as the room ventilates. In Aqueduct, a peak that persists after cleaning suggests weak extraction or an ongoing source worth checking. See VOC monitoring.

Aqueduct looks for steady flow on the restroom supply meter while the occupancy sensor shows the room empty. That pattern points to a running fixture, and the alert goes to a plumber with the room and start time. See leak detection.

Yes. Visit counts from occupancy and rising odor readings show which rooms need attention, so cleaning crews follow actual use instead of a fixed round. Airports and hospitals usually start with the busiest rooms. See airport terminal operations.
