CDP

CDP climate and water answers backed by facility meters

CDP runs the global environmental disclosure system that investors and customers ask companies to answer each year. Its climate and water modules ask for energy, Scope 1 and 2 and water withdrawal, discharge and consumption, down to the facility. Aqueduct meters those quantities per facility.

How does this week compare to the last few weeks?
12% below last week, driven by lower HVAC load on weekday afternoons. Two days had low meter coverage.

Who it applies to

Companies asked to disclose by investors or customers, plus cities, states and regions. Since 2024 CDP uses one integrated questionnaire. Organizations with more than 1,000 employees or revenue above US$250 million use the full version; smaller ones may use the SME version.

Climate change goes to every full-questionnaire discloser. Water security sits in module 9, with facility-level questions for sites facing substantive water risk.

Questions

Common questions

Question 9.2 asks what proportion of each water aspect is regularly measured and monitored. A site that estimates withdrawal from pump hours or bills has to say so.

Yes, but it asks whether emissions and water data were verified, and measured figures with a clear method are easier to verify than estimates. Aqueduct marks each period as metered or filled, so your team can state how much was measured.

CDP says its questionnaire is strongly aligned with the ISSB climate disclosures, so the same data can serve both. The facility energy and Scope 1 and 2 quantities Aqueduct meters answer the climate questions and support an ISSB aligned report. See TCFD and ISSB S2.

Yes. Aqueduct reads a flow meter on each source, such as city supply, borewells and tanker fill points, so withdrawal by source comes from readings instead of pump hours. The same balance gives consumption as withdrawal minus discharge. See ESG reporting.
